I've heard that washing soda can irritate the skin. Wear latex gloves when mixing in the washing soda.

Expect Greater Loonieness From the Governing Body As They Are Forced to Face Their Delusion By Reality
by frankiespeakin ini'm thinking they will be force to do a reality check as the clock ticks and things keep going down hill for the corporation they are ceos of.. that means they may come clean or change their delusion as the hard cold facts come knocking at thier door.
or they may hang on tenaciously to the delusion and exibit more and more bizarre reasonings.. i'm thinking this delusion to too hard to get out of and so exspect more bizarre behavior.

The GB will do what has worked for them in the past.
They will change their prophecies without so much as a by-your-leave.
They will brand the dubs who don't swallow the new light as apostates.
They will falsify their history to the poor schlubs who join later.
They will continue to portray themselves as the only channel to truth.
They will stretch out the new light until it becomes untenable; then ...
They will go through the whole process again.

If you enjoy raising hell at the KH, and who doesn't?, wear the false eyelashes AND stop attending meetings altogether.
Your eyelashes will be the least of their complaints.

Practical Problems Arising From Leaving Jehovah's Witnesses - not on jw.org
by InterestedOne inwhat practical problems arise from leaving jehovah's witnesses?
this question was inspired by a poster whose jw friend refused to be a reference for an apartment.
i wonder if most jw's know deep down that they need to maintain some ties with non-jw's in case they find themselves either deciding to leave or ostracized for some reason..

"I wonder if most JW's know deep down that they need to maintain some ties with non-JW's in case they find themselves either deciding to leave or ostracized for some reason."
I think that's true of many dubs. While still a dub, I married a non-dub, despite the many warnings and threats from the elders. Subconsciously, I think I knew marrying a dub was to invite a world of trouble. It also helped that I loved my husband! After 41 years of marriage, I still do.
Rules for the Practical Side of Leaving the Dubs:
1. If any of your dub family wish to stay in touch with you, great. Discard all other dubs. They're dead weight.
2. Immediately get some education, whether academic or trade, to be able to make a decent living.
3. Read about the WTS cult and cults in general. This will remove any lingering doubts and will help you rescue any salvageable family.
4. You will have nightmares about being back in the cult. These are normal; they will fade.
5. Cultivate friendships among the "worldly." Join a club, develop a hobby, volunteer at the SPCA.
6. If you develop any doubts or fears about your decision, come to this site. We will help.

Do you believe that God is using the faithful and discreet slave
by trujw init seems that this question is used by elder to trap us and close their minds(the jw elder) to thinking.
if you answer no they wrap up a jc in short order.
i was wondering if any have tried to use a more pointed question to actually get them to think themselves.

You're trying to get the judge, jury, and executioner at a kangaroo court to think?
Nice idea; wrong, wrong venue.

Is the grass greener on the other side?
by What Now? inhi all.... so my mom phoned me up this morning and said she needed to talk to me about something.
she asked me whether or not our (worldly) family thought that my husband and i were witnesses anymore.
one, someone in my family said to her, "i didn't know you guys wear short dresses like that" - commenting on a slightly above the knee dress i had worn to a family event.

"I try to imagine raising him as a witness ... and the thing is, I can picture it going well. I know I can make it fun, something he'll enjoy and want for himself. I know he'd have a great group of friends, whose parents I would trust."
Maybe you can picture it well. I'll bet dollars to donuts that your son will not picture it well when he starts going to school. I don't know if you were a dub kid, but from my experience and many many others on this site, a dub childhood is an unadulterated hell.
As far as having a great group of friends and their trustworthy parents, remember that their friendship is conditional on your kid's being a dub -- they'll cut him off at the knees if he decides to leave (as you are considering doing yourself). So will their parents.
"Then there's the other side, the crazy, culty side of the religion, that I want to protect him from."
This side is the only side of the cult. Any warm fuzzy feelings you get from being around dubs is dependent on your adherence to the crazy, culty WTS rules.
Your mom's lukewarm response to your fading is not the norm. When other dubs get a whiff of it, and they will, they'll cut you off and pressure your mom to do the same.
If only for your son's sake, continue on your path away from the WTS. Don't subject your kid to a dub childhood.

Kinder eggs are illegal in the U.S. because the small toys inside pose a choking hazard to young children.
But my local German deli sneaks them in and I buy them for my grandson, who is beyond the everything-goes-in-the-mouth stage. The chocolate is very tasty. Maybe that's why customs made such a fuss about them.

Unbelievable Assertion!!!!!!!
by The Searcher inwe had our special assembly day this weekend.. what the district overseer stated in his talk totally stunned me, and made me feel sick to my stomach.
he said, "christ is directing us through the governing body, and we cannot get holy spirit except through them!".
i do not wish to reveal all my thoughts on his statement, but i pray to god that it acts as a wake-up call to at least some of the audience.. suffice to say that the gb is now the mediator to our mediator, and from now on, i will have to pray for holy spirit through the name of the gb!!.

smiddy: " Wait till we see it in print. "
Blondie's post above quoting a Watchtower from 1993 shows they've already made this claim a long time ago. Maybe the WTS is just "bumping" their thread.

dazed: " What gerneration is that? "
The baby boomers. I'm in my 60s and don't think even the most artistic of tattoos would enhance the appearance of people my age (not much does). I'm sure there are exceptions, of course.

Lazarus: " Basicly, my opinion as stated in the OP didn't change (sadly my english skills neither). But I have to admit: Being a JW sucks big time. And it gets harder from month to month. Sometimes I have the feeling my brain melts and flows through my ears. "
From the moment I first thought about leaving the WTS to the moment I actually did spanned 3 years. Like you, I hesitated to hurt my family, and I was frightened of what my life would be like without them. Each month I delayed saw an increase in my misery. The gulf between the life I was living (a sham dub) and the life I wanted to live caused me more anguish than actually making the break.
I finally did break away, causing my dub mom to shed many tears, as she believed I was lost to her. Thirty-four years later, we still visit and talk with each other. She doesn't talk much about the WTS any more. I suspect she has developed doubts over the years. I don't follow up with it because she's elderly and the dubs are the only "friends" she has left.
Why hang suspended between what is and what could be? I've been there -- it's a terrible place.
